I am focusing on the physical properties of the minerals under conditions of the Earth's interior, especially their melting points. In order to measure the melting point accurately, I am developing a novel fast temperature readout system in collaboration with Professor Jennifer Jackson and the Argonne National Laboratory. The new system is two orders of magnitude faster than the conventional temperature reading system, so that it can easily capture the temperature fluctuations during the melting experiment, and is therefore more accurate than the old system. With the fast temperature readout system, we are aiming to better constrain the properties of the Earth's core.
