As part of the Tectonics Observatory I build software tools for research and teaching. One of our main projects is an open source, general propose,
reconstruction program called GPlates. The efforts of Caltech are focused on more specialized sub-systems to take information from plate kinematic models into mantle convection models. The next phase of research involves tools and functionality to simulate plate deformation.
