I work in the Diamond-Anvil Cell Laboratory with Jennifer Jackson investigating the properties of minerals under extreme conditions relevant to planetary interiors. My research has focused on experimentally measuring the electronic, vibrational, and elastic properties of a hydrous, iron-bearing sulfate. I am interested in using synchrotron diamond-anvil cell techniques to identify structural phase transitions, fundamental changes in lattice dynamics, and the effect of iron within a hydrous, sulfur-bearing phase in relation to volatile transport in Earth and other planetary bodies.
