I am primarily interested in earthquake sources and rupture dynamics. With Prof. Don Helmberger, we are currently analyzing earthquakes in the Tohoku-Oki region using seismic observations. Through the modeling of complex waveforms, we aim to better characterize the internal structures of the subducting slab. Other than observational studies, I am also working with Prof. Nadia Lapusta on numerical simulations of the interaction between small repeating earthquake sequences, based on the rate-and-state friction law. This study aims to investigate the extent of different stressing effects throughout a seismic cycle, as well as their possible contribution to the triggering of nearby earthquakes.
