As a seismic analyst, I locate and determine magnitudes for local southern California earthquakes. I am also an on-call duty seismologist for the Southern California Seismic Network, where my primary responsibility is to review the validity of earthquakes located by the automatic real-time computer system, in addition to be available for media interviews, and disseminate emergency information to the appropriate government agencies. As a SCSN duty operator, I am responsible for the overall health of the seismic network; a network comprised of more than 400 seismic stations. I must troubleshoot and fix problems with station telemetry. I am also the SCSN.org webmaster.
